About the Artist

Reginald "Reggie" Madison is a third generation artist whose bold visual language speaks to heritage, geometry, and the raw energy of place.

Raised in Western Massachusetts, Reggie draws deep inspiration from the region's natural landscapes, vibrant communities, and rich artistic legacy passed down through his family. His work features intensely colored oil pastel abstractions, acrylic paintings, and bold colored pencil compositions.

Each piece pulses with geometric precision and organic spontaneity, layering triangles, circles, and bold lines into compositions that feel both ancient and urgently contemporary. The colors of Western Mass—forest greens, autumn oranges, twilight purples—infuse every work with a sense of rooted belonging.

"Art is energy made visible. I channel the spirit of this place, my ancestors, and the geometry of life itself."

A Family Legacy

Wooden sculptures by Reginald Madison Sr.

Reggie is the grandson of Reginald Madison (b. 1941, Chicago, IL), an American painter and sculptor who came to prominence in the Black Arts Movement in Chicago. Self-taught, the elder Madison studied art independently in Paris, Venice, and Copenhagen. A 2021 NEA Artist Residency recipient, his work is in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts St. Petersburg and The Baltimore Museum of Art.

Reggie's father, Rodney Madison (b. 1959, Chicago, IL), is a self-taught painter known for his dynamic, colorful works bursting with energy and soul. A prolific artist and educator who has lived in the Pioneer Valley for over three decades, Rodney's bold paintings have been displayed in galleries throughout Western Massachusetts.
